Nashik

Nashik is one of the major cities of Maharashtra. It has a prospering population of more than 10 lakhs. Nashik, stationed on the banks of river godavari has a good supply of water all the year round and is hence famous for its grapes. Nashik originally developed as a city on the banks of thee river Godavari but has since expanded to other regions as well.

Nashik has religious significance as the river Godavari is considered sacred and also the temple at Trimbakeshwar is famous all over India. It is one of the few structures completely cut out of rock and is just 20km from Nashik city. Nashik is also known for its Kumbh Mela which is held every 12 years in the city. Kumbh attar acts a lot of devotees and Nashik city is completely flooded with religious tour its during that time.

Nashik's climate is also famous because it is generally regarded as pleasant and is not extreme either in summer or in winter. Nashik also finds mention in the Ramayana and is hence considered one of the oldest cities in India.
